BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION IN FINACE AND ACCOUNTING (BBA-FA)

Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Accounting (BBA-FA) programme is 4 years undergraduate degree in Business Administration. The course structure is designed to provide students with essential knowledge in the fields of Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Operations, Human Resource and other functional business areas. In this regard, an effort will be made to create awareness among students with respect to culture, environment and challenges of business organization through classroom lectures, assignment, project & presentations, case studies, industrial visits, special workshops, seminars etc. BBA-FA graduates are expected to develop the following skills after completing the undergraduate degree (BBA-FA): Managerial Skills, Communication Skills, Decision Making Skills, Entrepreneurial skills.

BBA-FA PROGRAM’S MISSION AND OBJECTIVES

Mission of LBC's Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Accounting (BBA-FA) Program is to develop socially responsible, creative, and result oriented management professionals to fill up the middle level managerial positions in the rapidly growing business sector in Nepal and abroad.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES OF THE BBA-FA PROGRAM

  • Prepare students to take-up middle level managerial positions in any organization.
  • Develop students' skill in object-oriented business management capable of understanding and solving practical business problems creatively.
  • Provide professional management education with a blend of computer and management information system courses.
  • Prepare students to proceed onto postgraduate level study in business administration.
  • Prepare students to identify the need of the society & help the society to fulfill the social needs

 

ELIGIBILITY CONDITION FOR ADMISSION

The candidate applying for admission to the BBA-FA program must have:

Successfully completed a twelve-year schooling or its equivalent from any university, board or institution recognized by Tribhuvan University.

Students who have passed 10+2 or equivalent examinations from recognized academic institute with second division (securing 45% and above) or 1.8 CGPA are eligible to enroll in this program and

Complied with all the application procedure.

ADMISSION CRITERIA

WRITTEN TEST:
Eligible applicants are required to appear in the entrance test commonly known as LBC Management Admission Test (LBCMAT). The test will follow the international testing pattern and standards. It includes the areas like:

  • Verbal ability
  • Quantitative ability
  • Logical reasoning
  • General awareness

There shall be altogether one hundred (100) objective questions in the LBCMAT containing twenty (25) questions in each section with a total weight of 100 marks. Student must secure a minimum grade or percentage declared by the examination committee in the LBCMAT in order to qualify for the interview.

INTERVIEW 
Applicants securing above cut off point marks in the LBCMAT will be short-listed. Only short listed candidates will be interviewed and selected for admission.

TEACHING PEDAGOGY

The general teaching pedagogy includes class lectures, group discussions, case studies, guest lectures, student presentation, role play, research work, project work (individual and group), assignments (theoretical and practical), and term papers. The teaching faculty will determine the choice of teaching pedagogy as per the need of the course.
The concerned faculty shall develop a detailed course outline and work plan at the beginning of each semester and also recommends the basic text and other reference materials for effective teaching-learning of the course modules.

INTERNSHIP

During 7th semester, students shall be attached to organizations where they have to work for a period of eight weeks. Each student shall prepare an individual project report in the prescribed format based on his / her work in the respective organization assigned to him / her. Evaluation of the internship shall be based on the confidential report by the organization, project report and presentation of the report. The report must be submitted before the end of the seventh semester. Students must secure a minimum grade of "B" or 60-69.9% in the internship. The internship carries a weight equivalent to 3 credit hours.

 

UNDER GRADUATE RESEARCH PROJECT REPORT

Student shall have to write an Under Graduate Research Project Report (URPR) in 8th semester. It carries six credit of 200 marks. It starts from the beginning of eight semester and shall have to complete within 90 days immediately after the completion of 8th semester end examination.

SCHOLARSHIP PROVISION

 

There will be biannual two section intake and each section will have 44 students. Out of 80 students 10% of 80 i.e. 8 students will be eligible for scholarship. The entrance topper i.e. LBCMAT will also enjoy the scholarship of 20% of semester fees only in 1st semester. Students shall have to pass SLC/SEE and 10+2 level of education from Nepalese Government/Community/Trust institution to apply for scholarship. He/she shall be a citizen of Nepal. Students who are eligible and selected for scholarship shall be awarded with 50% semester fees waiver as scholarship. The scholarship is divided as 50% to Meritorious (Private and Public) and remaining 50% is applicable for economically unprivileged students (applicable only for Govt. and Community Institutions). Students shall have to pass each semester to enjoy the continuity of scholarship.

QUESTION MODEL FOR SEMESTER END EXAMINATION

Group A: Brief Answer Question (10Q*2M=20marks)

There will be 10 compulsory questions.

Group B: Descriptive Answer Question (6Q*10M=60marks)

There will be seven Questions and six are compulsory

Group C: Case Analysis/Comprehensive Question (1Q*20M=20marks)

There will be maximum four questions.

 

PASSING GRADE AND GRADING SYSTEM

The final evaluation of students is done through the examination conducted by office of the BOARD OF EXAMINATION (Parikshya Sanchalak Samiti). Students must secure a minimum of grade ‘B’ or Grade Point Average (GPA) 3.0 in the internal evaluation in order to qualify to appear in the semester end examination. In order to pass the semester examination the student must secure a minimum of grade ‘B-’ or 2.7 (50%) in individual paper. But to pass in semester end examination grade ‘B’ or CGPA 3 (60%) is compulsory. The grading system shall be as follows:

MAKE-UP EXAMINATION AND RE-REGISTRATION

In case of failure in one or more subjects at the end of semester examinations students can appear in make-up examination in the subsequent semester. A student can appear only on two subjects (6 credit hours) in the make-up examination. If the student fails in the make-up examination he / she shall have to re-register and repeat the subject as per the subject cycle. At the end of the 8th semester if student fail in two subjects makeup examination will be held within a month of 8th semester result publication. If student fail in more than two subjects in any semester end examination then she/he shall have to re-register in the same semester. The examination of the re-registered course shall be held as per the course cycle.

ATTENDANCE 
Students are required to attend regularly all theory and practical classes, assignments, study tour, field trip, seminars and presentations as required by the course. A student is required to attend at least 80 percent of such activities in order to qualify for the semester examination.

CREDIT TRANSFERS AND WITHDRAWL

The program allows students to transfer the credits earned by them in similar program of other universities recognized by Tribhuvan University. A student who has partially completed the BBA-FA program and would like to discontinue his / her studies shall also be allowed to withdraw from the program. In such cases, a certificate specifying the credit earned by the student in the program shall be provided.

 

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

The BBA-FA program extends over eight semesters (four academic years). The BBA-FA degree is awarded upon its successful completion of all the following requirements specified by the curriculum.

The successful completion of 126 credit hours as prescribed with a minimum of passing grade in all subjects with GPA of 2.7 and CGPA 3.0.

A minimum of grade ‘B’ obtained in the Internship.

Completion of courses for the fulfillment of the requirements of the BBA-FA program must occur within seven years from the time of registration.
